Grooming and Care

Regular grooming: weekly brushing at a minimum, toenail trimming at least monthly.  Find a groomer for regular clipping (every 6-8 weeks) if the coat requires more maintenance.

Miscellaneous

Agility equipment for the backyard www.affordableagility.com

Long leads (don’t use Flexi-leads!)  www.palominelines.com  biothane leashes and long lines

ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center  www.aspca.org

Crates- I prefer wire for home.  Cooler.  Size 400 for adult Airedale.

Exercise pens are great as well for extended periods and potty training.  Usually recommend at least a 42” for adult Airedale.  I like to use a piece of lineoluem that closely matches my floor cut to the size of the square pen.

Leashes

https://www.leashoutlet.com/collections/1-4-flat-braid-slip-leads  I always recommend the 8’ for walks.  They are safe.

Collars

Buy a cheap soft collar for puppy.  Wait on fancy or expensive collars until pup is older.  Remove collars while in exercise pens or wire crates.

Travel

https://www.pettravel.com/news-pet-carsickness.cfm  Airedales will often have to get used to the car.  Try short trips.  Dramamine is safe.  Just be sure to administer 1.5 hours before car ride.  This usually does the trick.  After they get over the motion sickness, they will usually enjoy car rides.
